The role is for a qualified SPORTS MASSAGE THERAPIST tutor/ assessor to join our fast paced team at Origym Centre of Excellence.

As a weekend tutor/assessor you will work within a team of tutors and directly under the Head Tutor and ultimately the Director of Learning.

Essential Qualifications:
• Teaching qualification: AET / PTLLS / CTLLS / DTLLS, Cert Ed or Equivalent.
• Assessor Qualification: AVRA / CAVA / A1 / Assessing in the active leisure sector or equivalent.
• L3 Sports Massage Therapy
• Experience of working in a sports massage therapy environment as a therapist.
• A strong willingness for continuous professional development.
• Full drivers License and access to own vehicle.

Desirable Qualifications
• Level 4 in Sports Massage Therapy
• L3 Certificate in Personal Training.
• L2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction (Gym based).
• CPD in relevant qualifications
• Qualifications in 1+ : Boxing, Kettlebells, circuits, suspension etc
• Good IT skills and knowledge / application of Microsoft Office Packages.

Experience is required, as is a strong willingness to continually develop your tutoring and assessing skills set.

Primary Role of a tutor/assessor:

1. To teach and assess weekend workshops and practical assessment days.

2. Provide exceptional levels of constructive feedback both verbally and in writing.

3. Employ excellent standards of presentation and behaviour of all times

4. Facilitate a learning climate that is open and non – threatening but nonetheless rigorous. The learners should be comfortable enough to identify their difficulties openly and to admit when they “don’t know”.

5. Be familiar with the learning objectives of both the unit and the course as a whole and act as a guide to progressive learning and outline the backdrop for evaluation.

6. Observation of learners throughout their chosen course both practically and theoretically. Offering feedback in a timely and decisive manner.

7. Encourage critical thinking and ensure that the learners’ knowledge is challenged.

8. Ensure that the objective of each session, communication or assessment is met

9. Recognise the evolving process of development and the different roles that tutor plays at different stages.

10. Recognise the need for differentiation between learners and offer support that is appropriate for the individual or group that is before them.

11. Comply in full to OriGym brand guidelines, policies and procedures.

Tutor General responsibilities include:

1. Attending peer assessment and moderation sessions and regular meetings arranged for tutors covering but not limited to the standardisation process.

2. To fully participate in the Internal Verification process and adhere to all outcomes.

3. To undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the role and agreed with the Director of Learning.

4. To achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales.

5. To contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the team at OriGym.

Tutor Skills include:

1. Facilitating teaching through:

· Asking non – directive, stimulating questions and challenging students as appropriate

· Presenting consequences of student conclusions, opposing views, and cueing as and when necessary

· Indicating when additional external information is required

· Referring and directing students to resources

2. Promoting problem solving and critical thinking by helping students:

· To examine a range of information from a variety of sources

· To critically assess/appraise the information that they are reading

· To encourage additional “out of the box” thinking

· To urge functional application of the content learnt

3. Promoting efficient learning by:

· Assisting the individual to set early goals to aid in their course completion

· Sensing problems and helping the individual to deal with them.

· Ensuring learners understand in full before a request is closed by offering additional information to a request that the learner has not themselves asked but is integral to ensure full understanding.

· Making students aware of the need to monitor their own progress

· Serving as a role model for productive ways of giving feedback

4. Promoting individual learning by:

· Helping students to develop a study plan, considering students goals and programme goals and directing them to the resources needed to do so.

· Helping students improve study methods including the selection of appropriate learning resources

5. Evaluation through:

· Reviewing and clarifying course aims and objectives with the individual.

· Helping students define personal objectives

· Helping students select appropriate self-evaluation methods

· Reviewing demonstrated learning achievement and ensuring that the student gets feedback

· Reporting on individual student learning progress

Experience:
• Sports Massage Treatment: 2 years (preferred)
• Education sector Tutor and Assessor: 1 year (preferred)
